Functional Statement

Pursuant to Section 475(b) of RA 7160, the Budget Office shall:

  1. Prepare forms, orders and circulars embodying instructions on budgetary appropriation matters for signature of the mayor;

  2. Review and consolidate the budget proposals of different departments/offices of the local government unit;

  3. Assist the Mayor in the preparation of the budget and during budget hearing;

  4. Study and evaluate budgetary implications of proposed legislation and submit comments and recommendations thereon;

  5. Submit periodic budgetary reports to the Department of Budget and Management;

  6. Coordinate with the treasurer, accountant, and the planning development coordinator for the purpose of budgeting;

  7. Assist the sanggunian concerned in reviewing the approved budget of component local government units;

  8. Coordinate with the planning and development coordinator in the formulation of the local government dev. plan;

  9. Exercise such other powers and perform such other functions as may be prescribed by law or ordinance.


  1. To provide effective and efficient budgetary services to all service departments/offices and sound fiscal mgt. of the LGU;

  2. To ensure that the budget is geared towards the achievement of specific activities and expected results;

  3. To provide the mayor and the sangguniang bayan and other local officials concerned with an accurate and updated report on the balances of their respective office appropriations.
