Functional Statement

MSWD, as the lead office in social welfare and development, the office exercises the following functions;

  1. Develop programs and services in close coordination with the Local Chief Executive;
  2. Formulate plans which provide direction to the other networking agencies, LGU heads of offices, municipal and barangay officials and other implementers in the development and delivery of social welfare and development services.
  3. Develops and enriches existing programs and services for specific groups, such as children and youth, women, family and communities, solo parents, older persons and Person with Disabilities (PWD’s);
  4. Execute and enforce legal decrees, ordinances and regulations relating to public social welfare and development;
  5. Provides technical assistance and capability building to non-traditional partners and stakeholders.

Objectives

To provide social protection of the poor, vulnerable and disadvantage sector, and provide protective services to individuals, families and communities in crisis situation, that will contribute to poverty alleviation and empowerment through social welfare development policies, programs, projects and services implemented with or through local government unit (LGU), non-government organizations(NGOs), people’s organization (POs), other government organizations (Gos) and other members of the civil society.
