I.  Functional Statement

1. Formulate and implement policies, plans, programs and projects to promote the health of the people in the local    government unit;

2. Advise the mayor, as the case maybe, and the local sanggunian on matters pertaining to health;

3. Execute and enforce laws, ordinances, and regulations relating to public health;

4. Recommend to the sanggunian, through the local health board, the passage of such ordinances as he may deem necessary for the preservation of public health;

5. Recommend the prosecution of any violation of sanitary laws, ordinances or regulations;

6. Direct the sanitary inspection of all business establishments selling food items or providing accommodations such as hotels, motels, lodging houses, pension houses, and the like, in accordance with the sanitary code;

7. Conduct health information campaign and render health intelligence services;

8. Coordinate with other government agencies and non-government organizations involved in the promotion and delivery of health services;

9. Be in the frontline of the delivery of health services, particularly during and in the aftermath man-made and natural disasters services;

10. Exercise such other powers and perform such other duties and functions as may be prescribed by law or ordinance.

II.  Objectives

  1. To promote, protect and preserve the health of the people in the community under the following activities;
  2. STD/HIV-AIDS, Administration of health education activities, Environmental Health and Sanitation services, Maternal and Child Health care, Public Health Nursing Services, Dental Health Services, Medical Care, Nutrition Services, Family Planning services, Laboratory and research services, Vital Statistics, Disease Prevention and Control services such as: TB Control program; Leprosy control program; Schistosomiasis Control Program; Malaria Control Program; Diarrhea Disease Control Program; Control of Acute Respiratory Tract Infections; Preventive Cardiology Program;  Cancer Control program; Preventive Nephrology program/project; and Mental Health Prevention & Control Program.
